Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport and Transfer to your Hotel

You will be welcomed by  Fuga team and driver waits at Entebbe Airport with a sign and cold water. The humidity hits you first, and proceed It takes a very short drive to your hotel depending on traffic.

You check in, shower off the flight, and breathe. If you land early, Fuga can take you to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre or Ngamba Island Chimp Sanctuary for a soft start. If you land late, dinner and sleep. Tomorrow starts early.

Fuga books hotels with lake views and real beds because you’ll need rest before the road begins.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Wake up have Breakfast and leave Entebbe behind. The highway south is smooth, then west toward Masindi. About 2 hours north of Kampala we stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the only place in Uganda where you can track wild white rhinos on foot.

You walk 1-2 hours with armed rangers through savannah and forest. The rhinos don’t care about vehicles, so walking is how you see them. When you find a mother with a calf feeding 20 meters away, the whole

group goes quiet. It’s your first “wild Uganda” moment before Murchison even starts.

After lunch at Ziwa we keep driving north. The landscape changes. Farms become grassland. Baobab trees appear. You cross the Nile and enter Murchison Falls National Park in the late afternoon. Check into a lodge on the Nile banks. Fall asleep to hippo grunts.

Fuga times this drive so you arrive before dark and don’t waste hours on dusty tracks.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and  Afternoon Boat to the Falls

wake up early have an early breakfast at 6am, then out to the northern bank where lions, elephants, giraffes, and buffalo move through the grass before the heat rises. The northern bank is open, so you see far. Fuga guides know which tracks elephants used overnight and where lion prides were heard calling at dawn.

You’re back at the lodge for lunch and a nap, then the  afternoon boat. This is the reason people come to Murchison. You cruise up the Nile toward Murchison Falls for 2 hours. Hippos crowd the water, crocodiles sunbathe on sandbanks, and elephants come down to drink. Birdlife is constant — fish eagles, kingfishers, shoebills if we’re lucky.

The boat stops at the base of the falls where the entire Nile squeezes through a 7-meter gap and explodes upward. You feel the spray. You hear the roar. You understand why Winston Churchill called it the most powerful waterfall in the world. Fuga guides carry rain jackets because you will get wet.

Then  return at the lodge in the evening back, dinner with the Nile moving past your veranda.

Day 4: Game Drive to Top of the Falls and Transfer to Kibale National Park

One more short game drive at sunrise on the northern bank if you want it, then we drive to the top of Murchison Falls. You walk down a trail beside the river and watch the water build speed until it disappears into that narrow gorge. The force is violent. The sound makes conversation hard. Stand there 5 minutes and you’ll remember it longer than any photo.

After the falls we hit the road south to Kibale National Park. It’s a long drive — 6-7 hours — but the scenery changes as you go, from dry savannah to tea plantations rolling like green carpet around Fort Portal town. You climb into the mountains and the air cools.

You arrive at your forest lodge near Kibale as the evening mist drops into the valley. Dinner,  early sleep. Tomorrow you meet chimps.

Fuga breaks the long transfer with good lunch stops and music so it doesn’t feel like lost time.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in  Kibale and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth and Evening Game Drive

Kibale is called the Primate Capital of the World and for good reason. After briefing at the visitor center you walk into a forest so dense the light turns green. Rangers listen for calls, follow fresh dung, push through vines. Then the forest changes. Branches shake. Grunts. A shape drops lower.

One hour with chimps. A mother grooming her baby. A young male swinging toward you to check if you’re interesting. The sound of a male display where he drags branches and screams between trees. You’ll understand why people call them our closest relatives.

After your hour we exit the forest, change clothes, and drive 2 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check into a lodge on the edge of Kasenyi plains.

If you still have energy, we go straight out for an evening game drive. The plains are golden at sunset. Lions start moving. Elephants walk in lines to water. Uganda kob antelope graze while the sky turns orange. You realize Queen Elizabeth gives you two worlds in one day: forest in the morning, savannah at dusk.

Fuga handles the timing so you trek chimps without rushing, then still catch golden hour in Queen Elizabeth.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive Kasenyi and Afternoon Boat on Kazinga Channel

Coffee before sunrise, then into Kasenyi plains again. This is lion country. Fuga guides track fresh tracks and listen for hyenas who called all night. You’ll likely see lions, elephants, buffalo, warthogs, and Uganda kob. If we’re lucky, a leopard in a fig tree.

Back for late breakfast, then the afternoon belongs to the Kazinga Channel. This 32km waterway connects Lake George to Lake Edward and holds one of Africa’s highest concentrations of hippos. The boat drifts past them by the hundred, mouths open. Crocodiles line the banks. Elephants and buffalo come to drink while birds fish in the shallows.

It’s a 2-hour cruise but time disappears. You sit on deck, camera in one hand, cold drink in the other, watching Africa happen 10 meters away. Return to lodge for dinner as the channel turns pink.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha for Tree-Climbing Lions

Today we drive south through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth called Ishasha. The reason is simple: tree-climbing lions. Ishasha lions sleep in fig trees during the day to escape tsetse flies and heat. You cruise slowly under big trees scanning branches. When you spot a lion draped over a limb, tail hanging down, it looks fake until it blinks.

From Ishasha we continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The road climbs. The air gets cooler and wetter. You pass terraced hillsides where farmers grow everything by hand. You enter Bwindi and the forest closes in immediately — dark, dense, ancient.

Check into a lodge on the forest edge. Dinner, briefing for tomorrow. Gorilla trekking starts early and Bwindi is steep, so Fuga books lodges 10 minutes from the trailhead. No 1-hour drives in the dark.

Day 8: Bwindi Forest Walk and Batwa Cultural Experience

Gorilla trekking is tomorrow, so today we go slow. After breakfast we walk a trail through Bwindi without the pressure of finding gorillas. Your guide shows you medicinal plants, birds, black-and-white colobus monkeys moving overhead. The forest here is different than Kibale — older, mossier, quieter. You learn to see it without rushing.

In the afternoon we visit the Batwa community. The Batwa are forest people who lived in Bwindi for thousands of years before it became a park. They’ll take you through a demo of how they built huts, made fire, hunted with bows. You hear stories and songs. You realize the forest wasn’t “empty” before tourists came — people lived here.

It’s cultural, not per formative. Fuga works only with Batwa groups who control the experience themselves. You leave understanding both the gorillas and the people who protected this forest long before parks existed.

Early sleep. Tomorrow is the main even

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Wake Up at 6am. and take  Tea, light breakfast, then briefing at the Bwindi visitor center. You’re assigned a gorilla family and a ranger team. Then you walk into the forest.

Bwindi is steep. You’ll climb, slide on roots, duck under branches. Rangers cut trail with machetes. Then someone stops. Points. Whispers. Through the leaves you see movement, then a massive silverback sitting, then babies rolling in the leaves.

One hour with gorillas. One hour to watch them feed, play, look at you with eyes that feel human. A baby might crawl 2 meters from you and sit there studying your shoes. No barrier, no glass. Just forest and family.

After your hour we hike out, legs tired but mind full. Lunch, then we drives 1.5 hours to Lake Bunyonyi. The lake sits at 1,900m, so the air is cool. You arrive at a lodge on the water, check into a cottage, and sit on the veranda looking at 29 islands scattered across the lake like green dots. Take Dinner, then sleep to the sound of water. Fuga times this so you’re not driving at night after the emotional day of gorillas

Day 10: Canoeing and Relaxing at Lake Bunyonyi

No alarm clock today. Wake when you want. After breakfast we take traditional wooden canoes out onto the lake. You paddle between islands, stop at one with a story about the “punishment island” where unmarried pregnant girls were left. You swim if you want — no hippos, no crocs, water is clean.

Afternoon is for doing nothing. Read on the veranda. Walk through village gardens. Kayak. Talk to the lodge staff who  grew up on these hills. Lake Bunyonyi is Fuga’s buffer day because after gorillas, you need time to process. Travelers tell us this is the day they remember most because it’s the first day they actually slow down.

Sunset over the lake, dinner, stars that feel close because there’s no city light.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo for Game Drive

Morning coffee looking at the lake, then we drive north 4 hours to Lake Mburo National Park. The landscape changes again. Hills flatten, grassland returns, acacia trees scatter across the plains.

Lake Mburo is small but special. It’s the only park in Uganda where you can do a walking safari with zebras and giraffes. Check into a lodge, then afternoon game drive. Zebras, impala, topi, buffalo, and if we’re lucky, leopards. The park has no elephants or lions, which makes it peaceful. You drive slowly and see everything.

Evening at the lodge as hippos grunt in the lake below. Dinner with a view of the water.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo for Evening Game Drive

Day 12: Morning Walking Safari and Transfer Back to Entebbe

Last morning, boots on. We walk. Armed ranger leads, Fuga guide beside you. You’re on foot with zebras 30 meters away, giraffes watching from a distance, birds calling. Walking changes how you see wildlife. No engine noise. No vehicle between you and the grass. You smell the earth, hear your steps.

One hour, then back to the lodge for breakfast and checkout. From Lake Mburo it’s 4-5 hours’ drive back to Entebbe Airport. Fuga times it so you arrive 3 hours before your flight. Stop at the Equator line for Lunch and  photos if you want.

Drop off at Entebbe. Flight home.
